I.
I feel empowred two ways one is when someone says I can't do something cause then Im that much more motivated to prove them wrong and two when someone says that a person I admire is a great person then it makes me much more want to follow in that persons footsteps.
The time when I felt weak or powerless from a leader except when I admire that person and I viewed that I have failed in there eyes. Cause I feel that is a strike that I can't earn back it is no longer spotless work.
When everything was running perfectly and things were getting done and it was a unit working collectively for the greater good then the atmosphere was light. Humorous easy to succeed also easier to slack off.
The thing I can use is to always keep things positive and focus on the postivies while pushing the negatives so that everyone is aware of what needs to be improved. To build that trust just ensure that everyone is doing what there suppose to and nothingless and if the feel inspireded to do more encourage and reward that but don't expect it.
II.
Not delegating can be a result of not wanting anyone to do anything because one knows that they can do it best themselves and get the expetced results in a longer time or maybe they think shorter without the hassel of talking with others. Their way of the highway sort of deal.
Should delegate because it makes things go faster, brings ideas to improve the results to be even better, people are able to catch other peoples mistakes and it builds trust.
1. Positivity
2. Confidence in that person to be able to do a great job
3. Encouragement
4. Reward and Appreciation
III.
1. What is your passion?
2. What is your focus to get the job done well?
3. What is the main reason you are here?
4. What do you want to accomplish here?
5. Why do you want to accomplish that?
6. What will set you apart to make you better for your job than others in the group?
All these questions breakdown the motives of what the people want and what they are looking and it makes the leaders job to delegate them in the best effective job with the best effective people because though working as one is the goal it takes the individuals to get together and get the job done. Knowning why each person is there is the most effective because it allows for a greater group dynamic understanding.

Chp 7 Kouzes Exercise
I.
The time that comes back to me when I was rewarded for doing something is when I came into work and started doing things that were needed to be done. I wasn't rewarded on doing what I did but instead I was rewarded that I went above and beyond the expectations of what was said to be done. I remember this because it is the most recent thing to happen to be rewarded for that wasn't directly in my control. I remember not wanting to accpet the award because I felt it was just standard what I did and he wouldn't leave until I accepted the award so I did. Then I lost it cause I didn't care to keep much tract of it cause I felt that I shouldn't be rewarded on something like that because I have high expectations.
II.
1. People invovled were myself, Derek, and Meagan.
2. This happened at Scheels sporting goods store in the achery department that was surrounded in bows.
3. Derek was explaining to Meagan on what the various aspects of archery were while I was testing out a bow by shooting it in the range.
4. It ended and everyone just left Meagan standing there when she got into the archery lane and shot the window on the side instead of the target 20 yards away
5. The surprise factor was that a customer was looking for a bow for his daughter and he wanted the one Meagan was shooting but didn't notice it until the mishap so he decided to buy it So Derek made the sale and Meagan got a reward for helping the sale
III.

Public Speaking
The tip that stuck out to me most was don't say sorry about a mistake or a stop in words just keep going because the audience probably didn't even notice it. Sometimes its hard to not correct ones self in formal situations or when nervous but if I think of it if im arond friends I don't stop and catch myself I keep going hoping they don't notice so they don't tease me about it. The difference I think there is im public speaking is that in my experience which is little in public speaking people don't really form a first impression of you of who you are from what you present but it makes sense. If your job is presenting the subject matter and your are able to captivate the audience so they listen to what your saying then your job is being done effectivly. However, the question that arises from me is that if one constantly puts something out of the mudane to grab the audience in the same way to the same people then I think they might become disinterested even if its eye catching because even though what your saying is polished up and exciting the material and content may be not so people I think might act the same if it was a boring old presentation. Drawing the people in by being different for a new crowd of people I think is a good thing though because it presents the information in a way they haven't heard yet.

Drive
It was interesting to hear that for certain skills like basic think didn't always improve performance when more performance was getting a higher reward. Maybe that is due to stress the indvidual feels because they can't always see the progess like a person who simply needs to get stuff done. Then he goes on to talk about letting people do what they want instead of rewarding them can stimulate better productivity but sometimes people need reprocussions to hold a dead line. However, giving people that time to do there own thing to be creative can build better ideas because the pressure is gone and things can up on the spur of the moment of anyone. The purpose motive he talks about being seperate from the profit motive. If it's all about the profit motive then people won't feel that motivation to go into work. Having that purpose like Steve Jobs had motivates his works for the sake of what they love to do, not just earn money. Motivation is a vital key to inspire people and different situations deem different types of styles to motivate and it's a leaders job to find that persons drive and help them excell on it to improve and get better.

Feedback
Starting off I never thought of taking any feedback from someone unless it was presented in the right way. I never thought of taken comments that were not always given the best way. Even though they were still comments that could help me improve, I never looked at it like they were important because the person wasn't giving it a respectful way so I never bothered to head what they said. Being aware by having enough self awarness to build off any situation that is present stressful or not is important because it can help improve for the bad times and good times while even making the stressful situation easier to deal with by staying in control of what one says or does. The situations are not always a flight or fight response one has to prepare and be ready for them because they are bound to happen so manage the situation effectvively by being actively involved and listening to all the details not what just one wants to hear. Having that ability to keep a situation balanced is key because it's easier to give and taken imput into a conversation even if both parties invovlved in the situation don't agree on the topic being discussed. Keeping the conversation balanced and managed to no ones favor keeps ideas, thoughts and concernes vocalized so that the resentment doesn't build within one or the other. I think the important part is for a leader to keep calm and take in the information to understand more than to protect themselves.

Dialogue
Starting out with the story of the knights pulled me in instantly because I have always enjoyed hearing those types of stroies because the knight is faced with a difficult task and accomplishes it but with a twist. A knight normally does this by staying true to his virtues that are on his shield, like the reading said, the shield sereved as a reminder to not only the people around but knight himself. The knight would also have a family crest that also represented his vitures. The reading made me think though that a shield is useful, like our virtues, and can protect us from harm. But we can't always hide behinde the shield sometimes we have to attack meaning we have to do what's right in different ways in different situations. The reading also brought up the idea of balance knowing the opposite of ones values. I thought that this was important because it not only shows the importance of the value to begin with but also a broder view that is beyond the boundaries of our values. Dialogue is huge in any group becaues it sets up so many aspects to what a group is. I like how the book said its a important way to not only inspure ideas but to also keep things humble and tensions low. This is a delicate process that can be set up or happen naturally there are keys to help anybody in different situations. Dialogue is always needed and it is a leaders natural tendancy to guide dialogue in the right way and best way possible

Leader Style Self-awareness
Asking others the questions was a step in learning new things about what I do and restating what I already know. For the first question people said that I care and do my best at whatever I do, while still being thoughful for others. Being there for others when they need me and I have a willingness to listen and offer advice that usually turns out good. The things that said to hold me back others couldn't really hard a hard time thinking about this one and answered in unsureness. Saying that a weakness of mine is that I might want to get things done to fast or I get to excited about things. But one asnwered strongly that a weakness of mine is that I use to many little hints to imply what I want or what I am trying to get after instead of being blunt about the subject. For the final question of, in what events do I excell at as a leader one answered that If I care about the subject at hand then I will exceed expectations. The others said that I excell when I am helping out others or simply just being a good friend to them. The last person answered the last question by saying they think its when I'm working because that's when you're working hard and really involved in what's going on. This exercise showed me what I already knew for the most part but I did learn something new. I didn't realize I was a that good of a helper or listener I always felt like my mouth runs more than my ears take in. It was reassuring to know that even though I don't feel like I listen enough that I acutally do. This showed that my values are flowing through me and I don't delcare them out right and people get a good sense of who I am without me saying it because I live through my values not towards them

Minute Manager
I definitely found the one minute managers idea that how one acts with intrapersonal relationships a fine line. He states that its situational of how to communicate with each other but I feel that one needs to be themselves and have their values set and simple live by their general values towards people and not change values for a certain person. I do agree that some people need to be responded to in different ways but who oneself is shouldn't change the bottom line stays solid while layers can build on it. I strongly agree with the entrepreneur and minute managers thoughts on that people need to be rewarded for doing the right thing and that seagull management isn't that effective. I feel that if you don't recognize the good job even though it is expected, the mistakes that occur can't be picked on because with anything I think mistakes are always expected. We hope that they don't happen but we always plan for them. Having that balance of reward and criticism is crucial. The statement about no best way to influence others I agree to disagree with because I think positivity is the most powerful tool all of us possess and we can use it to spur others on but how much and the right timing of when to use it varies from person from person and having the natural leadership ability or the experiences one is able to figure it out. However for a person who is trying to grow as a leader and isn't as comfortable needs to work on this and the best way is to get out there and do, to learn from the failures.

Chp. 7 Reading
The start just really struck me cause I can always remember playing sports and in any situation there was always a person that need just needed that extra boost. Now some of the coaches would just hammer on that kid but negative influence is not the way, now for me when a coach rode my hinde end I didn't want to get better because I didn't want to get yelled at, No I did it inspite of that negative attitude so that it wouldn't been show again. When dealing with teammates I always found it useful to be positive and that a smile is a good tool to encourage people to do better because I think it builds up confidence and doesn't tear it down. Surprises a good thing to keep people appreciated and wanting to excel more whether it's a something the person can have or just a joke. Unexpected postive notes just have a way of making things less tense. When tension is down, tension not the samething as pressure in my book, things are more managable and easier to deal with and people strive to preform well. When a person excells to keep them feeling that what they accomplished was important and detrimental to the cause recognition lets them know the standard of excellence that they have met or exceed so they can do it again. Not only that I liked how being with the team celebrating or even being with them in a down time is a great thing. It builds that bond, the bond of trust needed so that everyone knows that everyone will do their own job so they can focus on doing the best they can do. Being with the team opens people up and gets them involved and I liked how it said that after it's all done that being with the team is a reminder of what the team was put here for.
